Taxation, Audit & Financial Advisory

Tax in Ghana rewards the prepared and punishes the late. Amentem keeps your business compliant with the Ghana Revenue Authority, audit-ready year round, and equipped with the financial insight to make confident decisions — whether you are an Accra SME, a company expanding across the region, or a diaspora investor who needs a finance function on the ground.

What we do

We handle the full tax and finance cycle: GRA registration and Taxpayer Identification Numbers, monthly and annual filings, VAT and the associated levies, PAYE and employee taxes, withholding tax, and corporate income tax planning. We prepare your books for audit, liaise with your external auditors, and provide CFO-level advisory on retainer so you always know where the business stands.

What's included

GRA tax filing and planning; VAT, NHIL and GETFund compliance under the VAT Act, 2025 (Act 1151); PAYE and SSNIT coordination; withholding tax administration; audit preparation and support; bookkeeping oversight and management accounts; and financial forecasting and budgeting. Everything is delivered against a clear filing calendar so nothing is ever missed.

Why Amentem

Our partners trained inside international firms and know both the letter of Ghanaian tax law and the practical reality of dealing with the GRA. You get senior attention, not a junior hand-off, and one accountable relationship rather than a filing clerk in one place and an adviser in another.

Who this is for

  • Ghanaian SMEs that have outgrown a part-time bookkeeper
  • Companies preparing for an audit, a loan or investment
  • Diaspora owners who need a finance function on the ground
  • Businesses behind on GRA filings and wanting a clean slate

How we work

1. Review

We look at your filings, books and GRA standing to find what is missing and what is at risk.

2. Plan

You get a written filing calendar and a clear plan to bring everything current.

3. Run

We handle the monthly and annual cycle, so deadlines stop being your problem.

4. Advise

Ongoing CFO-level advice on tax position, cash and structure as the business grows.

Frequently asked questions

When are corporate taxes due in Ghana?

Companies file provisional tax quarterly and a final return within four months of the financial year end. VAT and PAYE are monthly. We build your specific calendar and manage every deadline for you.

Do you work with diaspora-owned businesses?

Yes. A large part of our work is acting as the on-the-ground finance function for owners based abroad, with clear written reporting in your time zone.

Where we work

We are headquartered in Accra and work across Ghana — Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Cape Coast and Ho — and with clients throughout West Africa, including Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and Togo.

Beyond the region, we support companies expanding into East and Southern African markets such as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and South Africa under the AfCFTA, and we advise international businesses entering Africa for the first time.

We also work extensively with the diaspora. Whether you are in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands or the Gulf, we act as your accountable team on the ground and report in your time zone.

Working with Amentem

Every engagement is led by a partner, not handed to a junior. You get one accountable point of contact, written updates you can act on, and clear scope agreed before any work starts — so you always know what is being done, by whom, and what it costs.

We work remotely as standard, which means distance is never a barrier. Documents are shared securely, meetings are scheduled around your time zone, and you receive the same standard of service whether you are down the road in Accra or several continents away.

What it costs and how long it takes

Every engagement is scoped and priced before it starts, so there are no surprises. Smaller pieces of work are quoted as a fixed fee; ongoing support is available on a monthly retainer. We will tell you honestly if what you need is smaller than you think, or if it is not something we should be doing for you at all.

Timelines depend on what is involved and on third parties such as registries, regulators and counterparties. We give you a realistic schedule at the outset and tell you promptly when something outside our control changes it.

Why this matters

Most of the expensive problems we are asked to fix were cheap to prevent. A missed filing, an unverified title, a system nobody was trained on, a contract nobody read — each starts small and compounds. Getting this right early costs a fraction of correcting it later, and it removes the risk that quietly limits what your organisation can do next.
