Company Registration Readiness Check
See what you already have, what is missing, and a realistic timeline to a registered and compliant Ghanaian company — including the steps most people forget after incorporation.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Salaries, names, TINs and every other figure you enter are calculated on your own device and are never sent to us, never saved on our servers, and never stored by this site. Close the tab and they are gone. Downloads are built in your browser too, so they do not pass through us either.
Results are for guidance. Confirm against the current GRA and SSNIT rules, or ask us, before you file or pay on them.
1Before you file
Most delays at the Registrar-General happen because one of these was not settled first.
Have you confirmed your proposed company name is available?
A name search at the Registrar-General, not just a web search.
Do all directors and shareholders have a Ghana Card or valid ID, and a TIN?
Every officer needs one before incorporation can complete.
Have you decided the share structure and who holds what?
Changing this later costs more than agreeing it now.
Do you have a registered office address and digital address for the company?
Have you appointed a company secretary who meets the statutory qualification?
Required under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).
Have you appointed an auditor and obtained their consent?
2If you are a foreign or diaspora investor
Skip these if all shareholders are Ghanaian resident — answer “Not applicable to me” as yes.
Do you know the minimum capital requirement that applies to your type of business?
It differs for wholly foreign-owned companies, joint ventures and trading.
Are you clear on GIPC registration and whether your sector is restricted?
Some activities are reserved for Ghanaians.
3After incorporation — the part people forget
A certificate of incorporation is the beginning, not the end.
Do you know you must file a commencement of business notice?
Are you clear on registering with GRA for the right tax types?
Corporate tax, PAYE if you will employ, VAT if you cross the threshold.
If you will employ anyone, do you know you must register with SSNIT within the statutory window?
Have you identified any sector licence or permit you need before trading?
Food, finance, education, health, mining and others each have their own regulator.
